Principal's Message

Principal's Welcome Message

Dear Parents and Guardians of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Acting Principal of Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School. As a former Bishop Ryan student, it is a privilege to return to this vibrant school community, which has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, faith-based education, and commitment to student success.

As an educator with a deep passion for student learning and well-being, I bring a wealth of experience to this role. I began my teaching career at Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School in 2006, as a History and English teacher. From 2014-2017, I served as the ESL/ELD Assessor and Support Teacher, supporting students in their language development and academic progress in all of the high schools within the HWCDSB. My journey continued at Cathedral High School, where I had the opportunity to serve as the English and Languages Department Head (2018), working closely with both students and staff to enhance literacy and communication skills. Since 2019, I have served as a Vice-Principal at both Cathedral High School and St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School, where I gained invaluable experience in school leadership and student development.

At the heart of my approach to education is a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student can thrive. I believe that academic success is closely connected to student wellness, and I am dedicated to ensuring that each child feels supported, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I am also a firm believer in the power of collaboration between home and school. Parents and guardians play a crucial role in their child’s educational journey, and I look forward to working in partnership with you to support the development of our students academically, socially, and spiritually.

As I step into this new role, I am eager to meet and connect with you in the coming months. I look forward to a successful remainder of the school year and to all that we can accomplish together in the future. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas to share. Your input and involvement are invaluable in ensuring the continued success of our school.

Thank you for your warm welcome. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the Bishop Ryan community and look forward to working with you and your children.

Sincerely,
Christina Groppo
Acting Principal
